Optimization of Exopolysaccharide (EPS) Production by Rhodotorula mucilaginosa sp. GUMS16

Exopolysaccharides (EPSs) are important biopolymers with diverse applications such as gelling compounds in food and cosmetic industries bio-flocculants pollution remediation bioplastics production. This research focuses on enhancing crude EPS production from Rhodotorula mucilaginosa sp. GUMS16 using the central composite design method which five levels of process variables sucrose, pH, ammonium sulfate were investigated sucrose serving carbon nitrogen sources during microbial incubation. The optimal 13.48 g/100 mL was achieved at 1 concentration, 14.73 pH 5. Variations concentrations (1.27–14.73 mL) presented most significant effects yield, while changes (1–5 constituted least variable influencing yield. may have potential for large-scale biomedical applications.
